2019 SOFLO Cake & Candy Expo

The 2019 SOFLO Cake and Candy Expo is a sweet tooth’s paradise.

Cake and candy South Florida’s largest baking and sweets trade show, the SOFLO Cake & Candy Expo is open to everyone who has an interest in candy and cake. The fresh, fun, and innovative expo, which is taking place at the Miami Airport Convention Center from April 26th to 28th, 2019, is a memorable experience for vendors, sponsors, instructors and attendees alike. In other words, you don’t want to miss it!

Classes

There will be a variety of fun and informative classes available, which are typically between three and eight hours long. Some of the classes include cookies art, Marbled + Metallic Cube Cake, Realistic Wafer Paper Floral Arrangements, Korean Buttercream Flower Dress Cakes and much more. While you don’t need a general admission ticket to take classes, you must buy tickets to individual classes, which can be purchased online.

Competitions

The 2019 Mercedes Benz Corporate Run

The Mercedes Benz Corporate Run, Florida’s largest office party, returns to Miami this April.

Fresh off three consecutive years of record-breaking participation, the Mercedes Benz Corporate Run will take over Miami on April 25 following stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Each will race benefits their city's local chapter of the United Way, with $1 per participant going to the organization.

The 35th annual wellness journey will start at Bayfront Park, and offers beginners with an opportunity to ease into exercise and gain motivation to improve overall health, and competitive runners with an opportunity to lead their corporate team to victory. It’s a great platform to promote fitness and inspire your organization's employees. As they say - healthy employees create healthy companies!

Last year, 28,265 participants from 850 companies walked, jogged and ran in the 5K race (3.1 miles), proving the South Florida business community is one of the most driven and healthy around. The Miami Riverday Festival returns for a 23rd year this April

The 36th Miami Film Festival Celebrates The Best of International Cinema

Back for the 36th year, the Miami Film Festival is a celebration of the best of international cinema.

Film Strip on Reel The Miami International Film Festival returns March 1st through March 10th at Miami Dade College for what promises to be yet another memorable and thought-provoking event. This year’s festival will be star-studded, with appearances by Patricia Clarkson, who recently won a Golden Globe for Sharp Objects, as well as Barry Jenkins, Boots Riley and Aaron Stewart-Ahn. There will be more than 160 features, documentaries, and shorts from over 40 countries, including the opener, This Changes Everything, a documentary about gender inequity in the film and TV industry starring Meryl Streep, Sandra Oh, Taraji P. Henson. MIFF will also feature the North American premiere of Enrique Urbizu’s Gigantes, which will close the festival.

The CINEDWNTWN series will feature screenings of films including Singular, The Extraordinary Journey of Celeste Garcia, The Accused, and Huracán. Other noteworthy sections include the Made in MIA program, which features locally-produced films, the HBO Ibero-American Feature Film Award competition and the Fashion in Film program. There will also be conversations with major film personalities as they discuss their careers and new works. Tickets are currently available online. Prices typically range from $30-$100 for special events, while standard prices for films are $13 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $10 for students, veterans and Miami Film Society Members.

The 18th annual South Beach Wine and Food Festival returns to the sands of South Beach for the last weekend of February, the 20th through the 24th, for what promises to be one of the year’s best cooking and dining events.
