Back for the 36th year, the Miami Film Festival is a celebration of the best of international cinema.
The Miami International Film Festival returns March 1st through March 10th at Miami Dade College for what promises to be yet another memorable and thought-provoking event. This year’s festival will be star-studded, with appearances by Patricia Clarkson, who recently won a Golden Globe for Sharp Objects, as well as Barry Jenkins, Boots Riley and Aaron Stewart-Ahn. There will be more than 160 features, documentaries, and shorts from over 40 countries, including the opener, This Changes Everything, a documentary about gender inequity in the film and TV industry starring Meryl Streep, Sandra Oh, Taraji P. Henson. MIFF will also feature the North American premiere of Enrique Urbizu’s Gigantes, which will close the festival.
The CINEDWNTWN series will feature screenings of films including Singular, The Extraordinary Journey of Celeste Garcia, The Accused, and Huracán. Other noteworthy sections include the Made in MIA program, which features locally-produced films, the HBO Ibero-American Feature Film Award competition and the Fashion in Film program. There will also be conversations with major film personalities as they discuss their careers and new works. Tickets are currently available online. Prices typically range from $30-$100 for special events, while standard prices for films are $13 for general admission, $12 for seniors and $10 for students, veterans and Miami Film Society Members.
