If you want to indulge in the very best of anime, comic books, video games, Sci-Fi, and more, this event is 4 days of uninhibited fun. You’ll get to talk to a variety of comic book creators, celebrities, and cosplayers. What’s more, you can take part in a range of panels, cosplay competitions, and parties, or attend workshops and try out the latest video games.

Some of this year’s highlights include:

  • Meet the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, including Rip Hunter and Vandal Savage
  • Star Trek 50th Anniversary Celebration and the opportunity to meet a range of actors, cinematographers and Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner.
  • The Walking Dead cast members will be at the event
  • Star Wars fans can meet the Star Wars special effect coordinator and several stars
  • The TRON Reunion will be taking place for the very first time
  • Cast members from Game of Thrones will be attending the event
  • Tonks and Seamus Finnigan from Harry Potter will be there
  • There will be a variety of comic book writers and artists available to talk to and learn from
  • Anime stars from the likes of Fullmetal Alchemist, Sailor Moon, and more will be onsite

Here Comes the 2016 Colors of the Caribbean Festival

You won’t want to miss this year’s Colors of the Caribbean Festival. Held annually on the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend in South Florida for the past five years, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate Caribbean American heritage.

Celebrate Caribbean American Heritage Month

In addition to taking place over Father’s Day weekend, Colors of the Caribbean Festival is happening during Caribbean American Heritage Month. Headline acts to look forward to this year includes the popular Haitian artists Jahnesta and T-Vice, Barbados’ Alison Hinds, Trinidad’s Queen Omega, and Jamaican Reggae star Red Rat.

In addition to the live entertainment, there will be plenty of Caribbean delights, including the YMCA Kids Zone, Caribbean Travel Expo, and the Caribbean Food Village. Visitors can delight in all the delectable flavors of the islands while listening to performances by Bahamian Junkanoo and the sweet sounds of a popular steel band. There will also be smaller stages that will feature cultural performances and folk dancing.

Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase arts and crafts and discover popular travel destinations. Colors 2016 has something for anyone looking for an authentic Caribbean experience.

Coconut Grove Saturday Organic Market | Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Coconut Grove Saturday Organic Market stocks a wide array of organic, fresh vegetables, fruits, seeds, grains, and raw vegan foods. You’ll also find a few exotic rarities, including jaboticaba and durian. Be sure to visit the salad bar where you’ll discover a variety of delicious salads and vegan dressings. The raw food deli, especially the raw food pizzas are a big hit at this market.

Wynwood Farmer’s Market | Saturdays 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

At this market, you will find a gathering of passionate artisans, makers, and growers. The focus here is on the bounty of our earth and supporting local businesses that remain true to the planet. Only select vendors are permitted whose products are sustainable and ethical. There is usually live entertainment every Saturday.

Adrienne Arsht Center Farmers Market | Mondays 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

This market features locally grown produce along with prepared foods. Visitors can purchase fresh produce from stands overflowing with seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, drinks, and prepared dishes. There are also occasional workshops with chefs and food writers, and often you will be entertained by cooking demonstrations and live music.
